Halfords IP (HIP) thanks our clients and colleagues for ranking us amongst the best Australian Patent & Trademark firms, and, for Dan Berger being nominated as an ‘IP Star’.

HIP has elevated its ranking to a ‘tier 2’ firm for Patent Prosecution …last year HIP was ‘tier 3’.

HIP also retains its ranking as a ‘notable firm’ for Trade Mark prosecution.

Dan Berger, HIP Partner, was also named as a ‘Patent Star’.

HIP Partner, Geoff Davidson, said ‘the recent changes which have occurred in the Australian Patent Attorney profession, with most of the larger firms now being consumed and owned by two publicly owned companies (see Australian IP firm ownership chart), has seen an exodus of many of Australia’s best Patent Attorneys from those firms… they have moved to the independent firms, where they can continue to grow and thrive. Four Sydney based Patent Attorneys, each specialising in different technology areas, have moved to HIP from Davies Collison Cave (DCC) in the last 2 years, including Dan Berger – Nanotechnology Science, Anthony Cowle – Electrical Engineering, Dr Joanna Jones – Chemistry, and Tony Smeeton – Mechanical Engineering’.

HIP, based in Sydney, Australia, is an independent boutique IP firm. The Attorneys that do the work, own and run the firm. There are no management overlays. There are no shareholders demanding high dividends. We provide strategic, commercially focussed and practical advice to our clients in the most cost-effective and efficient manner.

The rankings were announced by Managing IP (MIP) in their 2020 Patent World IP Survey following their extensive global survey and analysis to provide independent and impartial accreditation in over 125 jurisdiction, including 1850 firms and 5700 practitioners, conducting their world-wide research of over 120,000 IP professionals over a 12 month period.
